The Backstory:
We were well served by education and want others to benefit from it too because we believe education can contribute to personal growth, economic stability, and expansive thinking.
If a child wants to learn we want to support that learning.
We bring our own educational and life experiences as well as our Catholic faith to bear when defining what elements of education we most want to support.
When we look at programs and institutions to support, we consider (but are not limited to) these subsets of education:
Reading
We want to encourage reading in elementary age children because we believe it is central to success in school and contributes to a more well-rounded individual over a lifetime, expands horizons, broadens perspectives, opens new possibilities, and widens one's scope, fostering personal growth.
Exposure to the Arts
We want to enable exposure to the arts for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend theater, symphony, museums and the like because we believe said experiences contribute to a more well-rounded individual over a lifetime, expand horizons, broaden perspectives, open new possibilities, and widen one's scope, fostering personal growth.
Religious Education
We want to enable Catholic organizations to provide religious education to school age children because we believe religion can provide a framework for developing one’s own morals and values. We particularly value religious education that is modern and takes into account the myriad of distractions that children suffer from today and somehow cuts through that noise.
